3 natural remedies for swollen feet and ankles

Try some of these natural remedies and get rid of swollen feet and ankles in no time.
Edema, or commonly known as swelling, is considered to be an accumulation of fluid in the tissues of our body.

This accumulation is caused by several reasons, high blood pressure, pregnancy and most commonly by kidney problems.
Edema, by itself is not harmful, but it is very uncomfortable. But if you see that one foot or leg is swelling a lot more than the other, you need to call your doctor, because it may be a blood clot and you need to solve that problem as soon as possible.
Mint bath
You will need:
  • ½ cup mint leaves

  • 4 cups water
Place the mint leaves and water in a pot over fire. Let it stand for about 10 minutes, than remove from fire and let it cool down for about 10 minutes. Pour the water in a bucket and soak your feet for half an hour.
Tonic Water bath
This may sound odd but tonic water can help you get rid of the swollen feet and ankles.
Soak your feet in room temperature tonic water, or in cold if you can bare it, for half an hour. The quinine and the bubbles can be of a big help in the process of reducing inflammation.
Salt water bath
Prepare a salt water bath by adding a handful of Epsom salts in a bucket of water, enough to cover your ankles. Epsom salts are amazing for relaxing the muscles.
