Did you know the fact that bananas change their nutritional features as they stay longer and grow riper? The fact is that they become sweeter as they ripen. And why is that so? Recently, Japanese researchers found out that ripened bananas are richer in antioxidants than the fresh ones. The dark spots that appear on the ripened banana produce an ingredient called TNF, or Tumor Necrosis Factor, which prevents cancer and abnormal cells. The darker the spots, the more positive effects bananas have in the process of preventing cancer cells. Ripe banana is proved to be 8 times more powerful in the process of fostering the immune system in comparison to the fresh bananas.
So, banana is best to be eaten when it is mostly ripened. Although it takes a lot patience and time to wait for it to ripen, at the end it`s worth it.

Furthermore, a ripe banana in combination with nut butter slows down the absorption of sugar in your blood stream and makes it easier for your body to break down and not hit you at once. It is recommended to consume this if you suffer from type 2 diabetes.
