Heart attack can happen suddenly and unexpectedly and this information can be life-saving if you have previously suffered one or have a predisposition. It’s still good to know what to do in this situation even if you don’t have a history of this condition in the family. It can help you or someone close to you and it can save a life.
You only have ten seconds before you lose consciousness and just a ten seconds window to react and prevent a dangerous condition if your heart starts beating faster and irregular, if you start feeling unwell.
This is what you need to do to save your life:
You need to start coughing vigorously for a few seconds if you want to prevent fainting. Before every cough take a deep breath, and the cough must be deep and prolonged. Until help arrives or your heart starts beating normal again you need to take a deep breath and cough every two seconds.
When you take a deep breath you bring oxygen to your lungs and the strong cough maintains the blood flow to your heart.
